The Conscious Practice of Deep Relaxation: YOGA NIDRA
“The Sleep of the Yogis”, Satyananda’s Yoga Nidra, dives deep into the rich world of utter release. The promise is powerful: Greater internal and external awareness, paired with decreased emotional reactivity.
Meditatively, in stillness, we open and calm the body, cleanse the heart, sharpen the mind, and finally access even subtler levels, for exploration, liberation and profound personal change. Applications include stress-based hypertension, anxiety, insomnia, PTSD, depression, indigestion, and pain, as well as personal evolution.
Supports will include Restorative Yoga, gentle hatha movement, Non-Violent Communication (NVC), listening partnerships and facilitated discussion. Yoga Nidra is beneficial for persons of any fitness level, non-yogis to experienced practitioners.
Yoga Nidra, though noted in yogic literature since at least the 1800s, has only recently become widely discussed in the USA. The Yoga Nidra taught is from the Satyananda lineage.
Specific Applications:
* Stress Reduction
* Pain Management
* Heart Conditions
* Anxiety and Depression
* Insomnia
* Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
* Whole-Self Wellness
* Spiritual Development
I hope you will come, and discover for yourself the deepest dimensions of release…

Building on the wonderful success of our first offerings last May, October, and this May, I am very happy to announce that I will be able to offer the amazing experience of Yoga Nidra to you again, at a three-night Breitenbush Hot Springs Workshop, this coming October 10-13. The most common suggestion I received at the last two 2-night offerings was to “please make it longer!” As we discover how deeply unrelaxed we are, as the layers drop away, we realize that it takes time and focus, and that our souls and bodies are crying for that freedom.
Breitenbush has a gorgeous property in the Cascade Mountains, about 1 hour from Salem: 7 hot pools to choose from, a fabulous steam house, beautiful buildings, and wonderful vegetarian cuisine. You can see their website at http://www.breitenbush.com/index.html , and my specific listing in their catalogue at http://www.breitenbush.com/events/oct10-13.html.
Registered Nurses, Licensed Massage Therapists, and possibly other licensed professionals, can arrange to receive a whopping 14 Continuing Education contact hours for the workshop – please contact me for details! (And remember, business expenses are tax-deductible, too!) Registration is through Breitenbush. Register early! Space is limited, and there is also a discount for early registration.
**Samaritan Health Services Employees: You may use your Wellness Benefit for the Tuition portion of this program!!**
For further description of the Yoga Nidra workshop, please click on that page under “Seminars”. The material above is what will be printed in the Breitenbush catalog.
Audio CDs for home practice will be provided as part of the seminar fee, and copies available for purchase.
